The Sada Misaki Melody Line is a scenic ~50 km stretch of National Route 197 that traverses the Sada Misaki Peninsula in Ehime Prefecture. Running from Ikata Town to near the Sada Misaki Lighthouse, it offers breathtaking views of both the Seto Inland Sea and Uwa Sea. The road is famous for its coastal wind turbines and panoramic ocean scenery, making it a highlight for riders exploring western Shikoku.
Recommended Riding Section
The western portion of the road, especially from Roadside Station Seto Agricultural Park to Sada Misaki Lighthouse, is particularly rewarding. Twisting curves, changes in elevation, and sweeping coastal views make this section a dynamic and memorable ride. On clear days, you can even see Kyushu’s coastline across the sea.
Road Conditions & Safety Info
The entire route is paved and well-maintained, with a relatively wide road width. However, frequent curves and elevation shifts mean riders should stay alert, especially around blind corners. Strong coastal winds are common near the wind turbine zones. Night riding is not recommended due to limited lighting—daytime is ideal for safety and scenery.

- Wind Turbine Lookouts – Panoramic views with dozens of massive turbines
- Sada Misaki Lighthouse – Westernmost tip of Shikoku (approx. 20-min walk from parking)
- Kamegaike Onsen – Perfect for a post-ride soak
Local Food

The area is rich in seafood. Don’t miss specialties like Jakoten (fried fish paste) and Tai-meshi (sea bream rice). You’ll also find roadside shops selling local citrus-based sweets and soft-serve ice cream, especially refreshing during warmer months.

Best Seasons & Climate

Ideal seasons are spring (March–May) and autumn (October–November), when visibility is excellent and temperatures are mild. Summer can be hot, but ocean breezes offer natural cooling.
