Nukabira Road (National Route 273) is a scenic mountain highway in Hokkaido, stretching about 120 km from Kamishihoro Town through the Daisetsuzan Mountains toward the Kitami area. The section from Kamishihoro to Lake Nukabira, Mikuni Pass, and Sounkyo offers stunning views of untouched nature and is known as one of the most beautiful drives in Hokkaido.
Mikuni Pass, at 1,139 meters above sea level, is the highest national road pass in Hokkaido. From here, riders can enjoy panoramic views of endless primeval forests.

- Peaceful lakeside scenery around Lake Nukabira and the famous Taushubetsu River Bridge (a historic concrete arch bridge from an old railway line).
- Mikuni Pass offers a breathtaking view of Tokachi-Mitsumata forest. Autumn brings golden-colored foliage along the slopes.
- The road has many curves but is wide and well-maintained, making for a pleasant ride.
