Osado Skyline

Route Overview

The Ōsado Skyline is a scenic mountain drive crossing Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture, stretching about 30 km between Ryōtsu and Aikawa. Running along ridgelines around 900 meters high, it offers breathtaking views of the Sea of Japan, the island’s towns, and even mainland Honshu on clear days.

This is one of the most beautiful touring routes on Sado, especially popular for its wide panoramas and natural beauty.

Recommended Driving Section

Starting from the Ryōtsu side (near Ōnogame and Tsubaki Ridge) and heading toward Aikawa is recommended. As you climb, the views expand dramatically, and from the summit observatory, you’ll be treated to a panoramic view of Sado’s mountains and the ocean.
