Route Overview
The Okutama Loop Road (also known as Okutama Road) is a scenic mountain route about 20 km long, connecting Okutama Town and Hinohara Village in western Tokyo. It consists of parts of Tokyo Route 206 and Route 33. Popular among motorcyclists and drivers, this road climbs through lush forests at over 1,000 meters above sea level, passing by Tokyo Citizen’s Forest. It’s a great getaway close to the city, offering real mountain driving.

The route from Lake Okutama toward Hinohara is especially recommended.
From the Tsukiyomi First Parking Area, you can enjoy panoramic views of Lake Okutama and the surrounding mountains.
The road’s smooth curves and elevation changes make it beginner-friendly for touring riders.
Road Conditions & Safety
- Fully paved and mostly two lanes (some narrow areas)

- Can get crowded on weekends and holidays; early mornings are best
- Closed during winter (December–March) due to snow and ice
