The Ōdaigahara Driveway is a scenic mountain road in Nara Prefecture, connecting Kamikitayama Village to the Ōdaigahara trailhead and parking area.
The total length is approximately 28 km, climbing from about 1,000 m to 1,570 m above sea level.
It branches off from National Route 169 and leads to the Ōdaigahara Visitor Center.
Private vehicles are allowed, but note that there are time restrictions and seasonal closures in place.
Recommended Driving Section
The entire stretch from the base to the parking area is a series of winding mountain curves.
Above 1,300 m elevation, the forest opens up to reveal stunning views and dense beech trees.
Early morning drives often offer mystical sights of cloud seas and mountain mist.

There are no food facilities along the driveway, so bring meals or eat before heading up.
