Konsei Road

Konsei Road (National Route 120) is a scenic mountain route that connects Nikko City in Tochigi Prefecture with Katashina Village in Gunma Prefecture. The road stretches about 30 km through the beautiful landscape of Nikko National Park, crossing the Konsei Pass at an elevation of over 1,800 meters. It’s a popular route for riders and drivers, especially from spring to autumn.

Road Conditions & Safety

  • Fully paved, two lanes, and in good condition.
  • Watch for sharp curves and occasional falling rocks near the pass.
  • Even in summer, it can be cold at high altitudes. Warm clothing is advised.
  • Closed in winter (early December to late April). Check in advance.
