The Izu Skyline is a scenic toll road stretching approximately 40.6 km, connecting Atami Pass to Amagi Plateau in Shizuoka Prefecture.
It runs along the ridgeline of the Izu Peninsula, with an elevation ranging from 600 to 1,000 meters.
The route offers sweeping views of Mt. Fuji, Sagami Bay, Suruga Bay, and the Amagi Mountains.
Its smooth curves and mountain vistas make it especially popular among drivers and motorcycle riders.
Recommended Driving Section
The best section is between Gandake IC and Susono-yama IC.
Along the way, scenic spots like Takichiyama Viewpoint and the former Gandake Drive-in offer stunning panoramic views of Mt. Fuji and the ocean.
On clear days, you may even see as far as the Southern Alps.
Road Condition & Safety

The entire road is paved and well maintained, with wide lanes and a smooth surface.
While the road has many curves, it’s generally easy to drive.
However, be cautious of speeding. Early mornings and evenings often bring fog, and weather changes rapidly at high elevations.
At viewpoints, be careful when stopping or parking, especially near curves.
Note: Motorcycles under 125cc and bicycles are not allowed.
Motorcycles over 126cc and regular cars are permitted.

Food & Local Cuisine

There are few restaurants along the Skyline itself, but nearby areas like Atami, Ito, and Izu Kogen offer delicious local cuisine.
Try seafood rice bowls, dried fish set meals, or Izu-style desserts.
Consider stopping for a meal before or after your drive.
