Route Overview
This touring route introduces Fukuyama Green Line (Prefectural Route 251), a scenic mountain road in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture.
The route spans approximately 16 km, running along a ridge about 300 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea’s island landscape.
The area is known for its beautiful seasonal views—cherry blossoms in spring and vivid autumn colors—as well as peaceful nature spots and observation decks.
Recommended Riding Section
The most scenic section is from Myōōdai to Tomonoura.
This downhill stretch winds along a mountain ridge, with spectacular views of Tomonoura port and the Seto Inland Sea.
Riding in the morning on weekdays offers low traffic and a relaxed experience.
Road Conditions & Safety Notes
The road width is mostly around 5–6 meters, with good pavement overall.
However, be cautious of sharp curves, overhanging branches, and areas prone to falling rocks.
Speed limits are generally 30–40 km/h, and extra care is needed on blind corners or narrow stretches.

The Fukuyama Green Line is free of charge for all vehicles.
Rental bikes are available near JR Fukuyama Station, with 125cc to mid-size motorcycles starting around ¥5,000 per day (advance booking recommended).
Best Season & Weather
The best time to visit is March to May for cherry blossoms and October to November for autumn foliage.
Summer can be humid, but the higher elevation offers cooler air and pleasant breezes.
The road is usually open in winter, but be cautious of slippery conditions during rain or early mornings.
Dining & Rest Spots
In Tomonoura, you’ll find local eateries serving Tai-meshi (sea bream rice), fried fish cakes, and cozy café-style machiya (traditional houses).
The area is great for taking a break, snapping photos, or enjoying a light meal.

Access
To start the ride, head to Fukuyama City via JR Sanyo Main Line (Fukuyama Station).
From the station to Myōōdai takes about 15 minutes by car or bike.
Sanyo Expressway Fukuyama-Higashi IC also provides easy access.
Rental motorcycles are available near the station (booking required).
