The Hachimantai Aspite Line is a scenic mountain road stretching about 27 km, connecting Hachimantai City in Iwate Prefecture with Kazuno City in Akita Prefecture.
Named after an “aspite” volcano (a gently sloping volcanic shape), the route winds along soft ridgelines, offering one of Japan’s top sky-high driving experiences.
At over 1,600 meters in elevation, the road offers a variety of stunning views depending on the season: snow corridors in spring, alpine flowers in summer, and vivid autumn foliage.
