The Fuji Subaru Line is a toll road that connects Fujiyoshida City in Yamanashi Prefecture to the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji, located at around 2,305 meters above sea level.
The road is about 30 km long and climbs roughly 1,300 meters in elevation.
It winds up the northern side of Mt. Fuji, offering dramatic views of the mountain itself and the Fuji Five Lakes spread out below.
At the end of the road, there’s a parking area and rest house, and it serves as a base for climbers heading to the summit.
Recommended Drive Section
After passing the toll gate, the road leads through dense forest.
As you gain altitude, the views gradually open up.
From around the 3rd to 4th station, you can enjoy panoramic views of the sky and the slopes of Mt. Fuji.
Just before reaching the 5th Station, on clear days, you can even see the Southern Alps and Yatsugatake in the distance.
