Ashizuri Sunny Road is a scenic coastal route located in Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture.
It stretches about 32 kilometers, connecting Ashizuri Cape to the direction of Nakamura (Shimanto City).
This route offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, dramatic cliffs, quiet fishing villages, and untouched nature—perfect for a memorable touring experience.
Recommended Riding Section
The best section is from Ashizuri Cape Lighthouse to Ohki-no-Hama Beach.
Here, the road winds along sea cliffs with panoramic views of the ocean and tropical vegetation.
During sunrise or sunset, the golden light enhances the landscape, making it feel cinematic.
Road Conditions and Safety Notes
The road is mostly one lane each way, and the pavement is in good condition.
However, some sections have tight curves or narrow lanes, so caution is needed when passing oncoming vehicles.
Speed limits range from 30–50 km/h. Tour buses and local cars may share the road, so drive safely and attentively.

Motorcycle rentals are available around Nakamura Station (Shimanto City) or Kochi City, starting at around ¥5,000/day for 125cc–large bikes. (Advance reservation is recommended.)
Best Season and Climate
The best seasons are March to June and October to November.
In spring, enjoy the fresh greenery and sea breeze. In autumn, clear skies offer excellent visibility.
Summer is warm but comfortable thanks to the sea breeze.
In winter, it’s usually rideable with warm clothing, as the region has a mild climate.

Near Ashizuri Cape, there are cafes and eateries where you can enjoy local seafood dishes and desserts.

The starting point at Tosashimizu can be reached by car or motorcycle from Nakamura Station in about 1 hour.
From Kochi City, it’s about a 3-hour drive.
Public transport is limited, so rental or private bike is the best option.
