Route Overview
This route introduces the Aoyama Highland Road, which stretches from Tsu City to Iga City in Mie Prefecture.
The road spans approximately 22 km, winding along the ridge of the Aoyama Highlands at around 800 meters elevation.
It’s one of the most scenic highland routes in the Tokai region, offering views of both Ise Bay and the Suzuka Mountains, along with rows of massive wind turbines.
Recommended Riding Section
The most recommended part of the route is from Aoyama Highland Furusato Park to the area near Kasatori-yama.
The curves along the ridgeline, paired with panoramic views of windmills and mountains, provide a great sense of openness.
Traffic is usually light on weekdays, making it an ideal cruising road.
Road Conditions & Safety Tips
The road is generally 6 meters wide, with mostly good pavement.
However, be cautious of narrow sections, areas prone to falling rocks, and frequent fog, especially early in the morning or on rainy days.
Speed limits range from 30 to 50 km/h, and it’s best to slow down at blind curves and mirrors.
