Akinada Tobishima Kaido

Route Overview

Akinada Tobishima Kaido is a beautiful road in Hiroshima Prefecture.
It connects Kawajiri Town (Kure City) and Okamura Island (Imabari City, Ehime).
The road goes over seven bridges and small islands.
It is about 30 kilometers long.
You can enjoy great views of the Seto Inland Sea by car, motorcycle, or bicycle.

Road Rules and Toll Info

The road is free.
Cars, motorcycles (50cc and up), and bicycles can use it.
But small motorcycles (under 50cc) cannot use some bridges, like the Akinada Bridge.
Please check your route before you go.

Scenic Highlights

Akinada Bridge is a large and beautiful bridge.
You can see the sea and sky.
The road goes over many islands, like Kamagari Island, Toyoshima, and Osaki-Shimojima.
These islands have beaches, museums, and quiet towns.

Recommended Spots

Mitarai Town on Osaki-Shimojima is an old port town.
You can walk and enjoy the old streets.
Kenmin-no-Hama Beach is clean and nice for swimming.
This area is also famous for mikan (mandarin oranges).

Local Food

You can eat fresh seafood, like sashimi and rice bowls.
Octopus dishes are also popular.
Try mikan juice, mikan ice cream, or mikan cake.

Best Season

Spring and autumn are best. The air is clear.
Summer is hot, but good for the beach.
In winter, it is quiet and peaceful.
